The quantitative analysis of social representations
Willem Doise, Alain Clémence, Fabio Lorenzi-CioldiThis is the
first textbook on the quantitative methodology of social representations
research. The three notions which are essential to the study of social
representations –objectification, organizing principles, and anchoring– are
clearly explained. Techniques of data analysis (such as automatic
classification, analysis of correspondence, discriminant analysis) needed to
use these notions are described.
The authors, all recognized authorities in the
field of social representations research, have organized the book into three
sections. The first shows the nature and structure of objectifications; the
second focuses on methods of locating individuals in relation to these
collective images; the third analyzes the definition and description of group
positions in relation to social representations.
